Business @ Breakfast Today
A great meeting this morning with lots of forward thinking for topics and what we need to do for the future of
Business @ Breakfast.
The free networking offer is still in place at the moment so make hay wile the sun shines or doesn’t at the moment.
It is good to see you all talking about business and how we can all help grow the businesses we are in.
The discussion on how the coming Olympics will effect our businesses was great and below are a few facts we found.
The games in numbers
10,490 athletes and 8.8 million tickets
636 competition sessions at the games across 26 sports
37 competition venues across the UK with 27 being in London
21,000 accredited media broadcasters and 6,500 for the Paralympics
4,233 Paralympics athletes and 2 million tickets
Approx 10,000 non accredited media around London
Possible impacts on business.
Staffing – Your workforce may be reduced during the Games.
Internet and remote working – Internet services may be slower at peak times during the Games.
Telecoms – Mobile networks may be slowed down at peak times during the Games.
Travel – For reps out on the road some areas will have very high volume of traffic.
And what I feel the biggest issue for us in Devon will be road disruption delays in deliveries.
So the general feeling amongst us is that we won’t be affected as much as first thought those many moons ago when they broke the news of the Olympics being held in the UK.
